While on a business trip to Philadelphia I had the great pleasure to visit the newly reopened Barnes Foundation. What a treat! If you haven’t heard of the Foundation or been for a visit, I highly recommend doing so.
I have just finished Hyper Island’s Master Class in NYC. I invited Miguel Dvorak, our COO, for the three day intensive course on digital media. As we are developing a very strong digital strategy at Cisneros I felt that I needed to find a place where I could learn about the bigger idea behind “Digital.”
While in Miami last week, I participated in the send-off party for the Geeks on a Plane Latin America Tour. I was one of three panelists invited to talk to this group of about 40 entrepreneurs the night before they set off on a 10-day tour to Mexico City, Sao Paolo and Buenos Aires.
I have just returned from Washington, DC, where I attended the 2012 Global Philanthropy Forum. The conference was particularly interesting to me since it addressed fields that I am deeply involved in – our foundational work through the Fundación Cisneros, CSR at our companies and my own personal philanthropy.
On April 3rd I was honored by the Henry Street Settlement during its annual gala recognizing people that have contributed to the wellbeing of their community. It was a humbling experience to have been honored by an institution that has done so much for the Hispanic community in New York City.

On March 16th the digital accelerator 21212 had its first demo day in Rio. I had the honor of mentoring three of the companies that presented – Simpply, Ainda Tem and iTrip.
On Wednesday, March 7th in Caracas, we launched the book titled Jesus Soto in conversation with Ariel Jiménez – the fourth and latest title of the CONVERSACIONES/CONVERSATIONS bilingual books series published by the Fundación Cisneros/Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros [CPPC].
The Interactive Team and I attended the 2nd annual Google Hispanic Marketing conference in NYC. The event attracted people and companies like ours that are the developing digital products targeted to the underserved US Hispanic Market. Victor Kong, Rafael Garcia, Jorge Rincon and I got a lot out of this event and wanted to share some insights with you.
About two years ago we set out to develop a new social responsibility program for Venevision, our TV network in Venezuela. Cisneros Group, our parent company, has been “giving back” for over 35 years through the educational programs of the Fundacion Cisneros and as a network, Venevision has always been a responsible company, helping the schools in the area, running a yearly telethon to raise money for the “Hospital Ortopédico Infantil”, and organizing food, blood and toy drives during hard times.
